My Lil Gracie Bear GraniteKids Triathlete

Grace accomplished her first Triathlon July 13 the Graniteman Kids Triathlon in Clearwater MN. It was a last minute decision... but she has NEVER before wanted to do something so bad!!! We were not fully prepared but it all worked out Austin borrowed her his helmet, and she was off! She never stopped smiling and never was scared for one second... me on the other hand was never so nervous and scared for her!! This race is the same distance for 6 year olds all the way up to the 14 year olds: 150 meter swim, 3 mile off road bike, . 8 mile run!!!

I was nervous for the swim because it went over her head 20 feet into the water and I could not see her around the bend!

I was adamant she wear a life jacket but she was so confident she could do this without I finally met her half way and she wore a small swim float on her tummy!!

She was the first in her age group to exit the water and made sure I knew that she would do it without the tummy float next time... have faith in me mama she said at the end! She said the swim was her favorite part too! :) When she transitioned she was so focused and happy. We never practiced anything but she just knew how to do it- maybe from watching me practice? She said she had to stop during the run to pour water on herself at the water station. When she crossed the finish line the first thing out of her mouth was when can I do this again!!! I knew right then she is HOOKED for life! :)

All the finishers recieved dog tag medals- which were really cool!

SOOOOOOO PROUD OF YOU GRACE!!! She was 3rd in her age group for girls 8 and under!!! And 9th in her age group of 8 and under with the boys! I could NOT believe it!!!! They had an award ceremony right after and Grace got a 3rd place medal!! She was a little disappointed it was not first- she struggles with always wanting to be first. But Jeff and I have always told her it is not what place you get it is if you gave it your ALL and she said she did and she understood! :) I guess she is a true competior!!

~Bay Days TRI 2011~

A very hot and very humid day of accomplishment!! The swim this year was a much better experience for me. I finally felt like I was enjoying it and being able to swim every Monday for 30 min in June really made difference for me. The run on the other hand did not go well for me, I think I now know what heat exhaustion feels like- fever chills and stomach pain!! I have never been so happy to be done running... it was a strange feeling to stop in the middle of a 5k race and I stopped 3 times!! My sister and cousin Danielle and my amazing hubby were so sweet to come and support me along the way!! I love you all so much!! xoxoxo Jenifer I am so happy we can share this sport together!!
Thank you to ALL the amazing volunteers I appreciate each and everyone of you!! I am so thankful to our chamber to have a triathlon in our own hometown is so awesome and I am so lucky to have participated every year!!

~Bay Days Muddy Buddies Bike Race~

Too Much fun!!! It was A VERY HOT day but luckly some kiddos braved the heat and had some fun!!! I made a obstical course this year with a bike wash and Graces favorite pole weaving that the kiddos had a great time running through after to get cool!!!
