"Birkie Fever"

Learning how to skate ski this year has sure opened my eyes to how amazing and challenging the American Berkiebiener truly is! It is a race I aspire to do someday soon!

I really like what the official Berkie website said about the race:

It is citizen’s cross country ski race with something for everybody! The magic unfolds February 19-21, 2009 when 9,000 fit, colorfully-clad skiers from all walks of life and from around the world descend on northern Wisconsin to ski some of the most beautiful and challenging trails in the world.
It’s a Winter Wonderland.
It’s 3 days of excitement, camaraderie and challenge for everyone from ages 3 to 93.
It’s an annual celebration of fitness, personal endurance and outdoor enthusiasm.
It’s a cultural experience bursting with languages from 19 countries.
It’s Birkie Fever.

Good luck to my friends Mary, Ryan Hansen and Shaun Lund! I hope that you do well and enjoy the hard work you put in this year! Mary and Ryan are doing the 50K Berkie, and Shaun who just learned how to skate ski this year is skiing the 23K Kortelopet! Go hard all of you! Wish I could be there to cheer you guys on!

"Like Family"

Jeff and I went down to Hayward to have dinner with our very good friends Mary and Ryan Hansen. It was a special trip to wish them good luck for the Berkie, and to see Marys family also! Mary had her father and sister visiting from North Dakota! Mary has always been like a sister to me so it is pretty natural for me to feel like her family is mine! We sure enjoy spending time with all of you! Thank you for a wonderful night!

Grace and Lucas have always had a special bond. They both know no fear! I can see them riding in the rodeo's together!


It is always hard to leave at the end of a visit! It was a pretty late night for the kids, but they all loved every minute and play so great together... and yes Grace taught Lucas a few new daredevil moves! Sorry~Mary and Ryan!

Skating Day

Sunday was such a beautiful day we decided to have fun on the pond by our home. Most of the snow melted off the pond so it was the perfect skating rink! We played hockey and roasted hot dogs! Grace said she had the best day ever...

Ava's 12 Month Apt.

I can't believe what a peanut Ava is! Ava weighs 16lbs 12oz(below 5%), and she is a long 30 inches(95%)! To compare Grace at this age was 20lbs and 31 inches long!

Grace could not wait to bring you home and show you all the animals! And she was right you are a animal lover just like her! I don't know who is going to love riding more? You two play so well together! I never thought children should get along as good as you two do! You will have a best friend for life!

Snow Shoe Adventure!

Sunday was the perfect day to try out Grace's new snowshoes she received from Nana and Papa! She loved them! Ava can't wait to try out snowshoeing! Thanks for the gift of adventure!:)

I play obstacle course with the girls and I use my whistle a lot! Ava has taken a liking to the power of the whistle!

Valentines Party

Grace worked really hard on he valentines this week. It has been a crazy week for us. It takes a while to adjust after such a great vacation. I still can't believe how fast it all went!

Emma a friend of Grace had a valentine party on Friday morning. It was a great party with fun friends!

Dreams Come True!!!

To see Disney through Grace's eyes was magical to say the least! What a dream it was! I really don't know how to put into words the way we felt being in this spectacular world of fantasy!

The castle is breathtaking, and you can actually walk through the middle! They have a show on the stage every 2 hours we hardly ever missed a performance!

Grace has never been the type to sit still for long but I caught her frozen in awe countless times.
